Our Government is on an Unsustainable Economic Path

Why were the people NOT told about this back then? Why would the government continue to spend KNOWING we are in the mess we are in?  Can we EVER turn this around Steve?

These are the questions that continue to be asked on the campaign trail.

The evidence of government insolvency is given in a recent USA Today article.  The facts are given in the chart below.

Constitution

We recently saw the courts try to declare the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional.  It is time for us, the majority, to stand up.  This piece is going around on the internet. I wanted to post it so you can circulate it from our website to your email list. I'm not sure who wrote it, but it is certainly relevant.

Food prices for the month rose by 2.4%, its sixth consecutive monthly increase and the largest jump in over 26 years. NIA believes that a major breakout in food inflation could be imminent, similar to what is currently being experienced in India.

Some of the startling food price increases on a year-over-year basis include, fresh and dry vegetables up 56.1%, fresh fruits and melons up 28.8%, eggs for fresh use up 33.6%, pork up 19.1%, beef and veal up 10.7% and dairy products up 9.7%. (quoted from the NIA newsletter included at the end of this posting.)

President Obama promised that he would not raise taxes on the middle class.  He is!  And Congress did not even have to vote on it.

INFLATION.  That is how he is doing it.

How does inflation happen?  The government prints money; that is all it takes.  They have been printing a lot of it since last January.  You can watch this video of Glen Beck on money supply

Taxes Kill Jobs

Nancy Pelosi is pushing a new tax that will kill local radio stations and kill local jobs.

She is taking her marching orders from the unions and is pushing for a vote on a new performance tax on the radio industry.

When I was in Las Cruces earlier this week, a local radio station owner said the new performance tax will kill about one out of every four radio stations nationwide.  We have almost 10% unemployment and Pelosi is pushing for legislation that will kill local jobs and radio stations and send performance tax proceeds to overseas record labels in Tokyo, France and England.

The second beneficiary group will be the entertainers.  The government should not have tax dollars going to GM, AIG and Goldman Sachs and it should not be taxing us to give money to famous recording artists.   We already give our recording artists free air time.  That is enough.

Where is the sense in letting the government kill these jobs?

Mr. Winthrop Quigley’s one-sided commentary (ABQ Journal, 4/13/2010) of President Ronald Reagan’s record is one dimensional at best and transparently biased against the conservative movement in America.  It begs a serious rebuttal. No, Mr. Quigley, we are not "tapping the nation's fear and anger." We want our voices heard by our political leaders. If not in the public square, then, thanks to our constitution, we'll be heard come election time.

I am not alone when I say I do not worship Reagan nor am I merely an “acolyte” but a long-time admirer in the same vein that I respect Washington and Lincoln. It appears there are millions of Americans who share my opinion. Considering Ronald Reagan’s presidency ended only twenty years ago, it is astounding that his popularity has risen quickly in such a short period of time. According to surveys of opinion polls gathered from historians, political scientists, and the general public conducted by various reputable organizationsover the past twenty years, Reagan has risen to the top ten among our country’s highest ranked Presidents.1

16,000 new IRS agents.

If anyone doubted the intent of the recent Health Care Bill, just consider the fact that it funds so many new bureaucrats to look into your life.

My favorite picture of the day was the two babes in a stroller with the sign, “we are dangerous Right-Wing Radicals” on their back.  When we can laugh at the insults from the left…including the President, this country is going to be just fine.

Yesterday I attended Tea Parties in Ruidoso, Las Cruces and Sunland Park - so far south in New Mexico that it feels like you are in El Paso, but you are still taxed like you are in New Mexico.

3 BIG rallies of friendly “Citizens doing their duty” as one sign said

We heard the Preamble to the Constitution in Iambic pentameter in Ruidoso…it was a magnificent presentation.

Rothenberg says substantial Republican gains are inevitable

HOBBS, NM – Rothenberg Political Report today released new Congressional race ratings, moving New Mexico’s Second Congressional District from “Toss-Up” to “Lean Republican.”

“We are thrilled to see that the momentum of the Pearce campaign is apparent to people across the country.  New Mexicans are eager for a Congressman who will listen to their concerns and put them into action.  Steve Pearce will work to improve the economy and create jobs, something Congressman Teague has failed to do,” stated Campaign Manager Alicia Collins.

Rothenberg wrote today on their blog (http://rothenbergpoliticalreport.blogspot.com/)

“Substantial Republican gains are inevitable, with net Democratic losses now looking to be at least two dozen. At this point, GOP gains of 25-30 seats seem likely, though considerably larger gains in excess of 40 seats certainly seem possible.”

For Immediate Release

We must enact policies that will allow economic development - - - Teague hasn’t & I will

HOBBS– Candidate for Congress, Steve Pearce today issued the following statement on April 15, Tax Day.

Pearce stated, “Tax Day today is a bitter reminder to Americans that they must navigate the bureaucratic maze of the IRS and sign over their hard earned money to the government that is on an out-of-control spending spree.

“So many New Mexican families are struggling to make ends meet and hoping they will still have their job next month.  At the same time, Washington politicians have focused on growing government, record shattering debt, and passing legislation such as cap and trade and the health care bill that will kill more jobs than it creates. They have failed to address our faltering economy and declining jobs.

“We must make jobs and the economy the top priority.  We can put our country back on the right path, but we must first enact policies that will allow economic development.  Teague hasn’t and I will.”
