...and some of my proudest moments are not about what I have done but about what my wife, Cynthia, has done. One year she was an officer in the Congressional Spouses Club. In that role, she helped plan the First Lady's Luncheon which is an annual affair. When the big day came, Cynthia was radiant as she was escorted down the aisle with thousands of people seated all around her.

                                                

 Laura Bush was always charming, gracious and elegant. I believe that my wife is just as refined, gracious and charming. 

 

      

President Bush is a decent and upfront guy. He always remembers Cynthia and gives her a big hug. He is comfortable with small town girls and always has a kind word for Cynthia.   No matter how hard things were for him, he took time to speak to and take pictures with people.

 

 

Our daughter, Lori and her husband Craig came to Washington for the 2005 Inauguration. Lori takes after her mother and has developed into a beautiful and caring woman.   Like Cynthia, Lori is pretty hard to get off balance. 

 

 

Olivia is our granddaughter.   She has the natural smile and good looks of her mom and Nana…but you want to walk a little carefully around her.  From a very early age she had the ability to give a look that will freeze the blood in your veins and will correct any mistaken notions you might voice within herhearing. I love her fiery, volatile nature. Of course, I don’t have to be around it all the time either.

 

                                  

As you can see, I am blessed with beautiful women in my life. I am always careful not to be complacent around any of them though because they all have quick, observant natures and an easy way with corrections.  I am richly blessed by my family!
