Mother Teresa closed with these words at the1994 National Prayer Breakfast:
“From here, a sign of care for the weakest of the weak - the unborn child - must go out to the world. If you become a burning light of justice and peace in the world, then really you will be true to what the founders of this country stood for. God bless you!”
An atheist group, Freedom from Religion Foundation is actively urging their supporters to boycott the Mother Teresa stamp the U.S. Post Office plans to release August 26th. The stamp will recognize Mother Teresa on what would have been her 100th birthday for her humanitarian work that resulted in her being awarded the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize.
The Foundation claims that the stamp violates postal regulations against honoring "individuals whose principal achievements are associated with religious undertakings."
This campaign by the Freedom from Religion Foundation is another example of radical anti-religious groups trying to remove all aspects of religion from the public square.
We must continue to stand up for our common beliefs and use our voices to help encourage good public policy.

Brian Burch, President of Catholic Vote recently circulated an email to their group saying: “I am continually shocked by the persistence of these activist groups. They seem to never give up! Any mention or reference of God must be wiped out. The Pledge of Allegiance, In God We Trust, you name it… they want it boarded up, whitewashed, and banished from our public life.”
Catholic Vote is asking for people to sign the group letter to the Postmaster General on the website www.StampOutBigotry.com.
So far the U.S. Post Office is standing strong. According to a Fox News article, the Post Office Spokesman, Roy Betts, stated "Mother Teresa is not being honored because of her religion; she's being honored for her work with the poor and her acts of humanitarian relief…" He said the Mother Teresa stamp, like other stamp subjects, will "stand the test of time, reflect the cultural diversity of our nation and have broad national appeal.”
Sign the letter to the Postmaster General at www.stampoutbigotry.com and use your voice to stand up for what is right.
