TEAGUE VOTES FOR DISCLOSE ACT
Remains Rubber Stamp for Unions
HOBBS, NM – Harry Teague is proving once again that he is a rubber stamp for unions and Washington special interests. Teague voted in favor of the DISCLOSE Act today.
The DISCLOSE Act is the Democrats’ new campaign finance legislation which attempts to regulate free speech while protecting unions and Washington special interests. Some of the provisions of the Act include:
- Exempting unions and special interests from new requirements designed to discourage certain organizations from engaging in political debate
- Bans speech by government contractors and TARP recipients but not unions
- Creates complex reporting requirements which will have high costs and disproportionate effects on small businesses
- Imposes unfair limitations on coordinated communications between federal candidates
“Harry Teague and his Democrat colleagues are rushing legislation forward to stifle political debate in an effort to protect themselves in the upcoming election,” said former Congressman Steve Pearce.
Pearce continued, “ This is yet another sign that Harry Teague has given up on New Mexico and is more concerned about his own self-preservation. Like his support of the Employee Free Choice Act, he has proven to worry more about Washington special interests and less about the citizens of New Mexico.
